Movie Review: "The Clown Murders" (1976)

Movie: "The Clown Murders"
Director: Martyn Burke
Year: 1976
Rating: R
Running Time: 1 hour, 36 minutes

A bunch of rich guys decide to play a prank on one of the guys' ex-girlfriends/friend during a Halloween party. The joke was to take and hide one of the friend's wives so he couldn't complete his property deal that was set to close at midnight. The joke gets taken too far, and their prank turns into a real life kidnapping that ends in murder.

For a movie called "The Clown Murders," there are not many clowns, and there are very few murders.

This film is DREADFULLY paced and takes a millennium to get to any discernible plot. The film lacks any semblance of a horror film for the first 1 hour and 30 minutes (note the run time of 1 hour and 36 minutes).

This is John Candy's second motion picture and he is a complete wimp in it, not AT ALL the John Candy we know and love.
If you want to see a bunch of rich assholes sitting around yelling at each other, poking fun at John Candy for being fat, this might be the movie for you (and you're a bro).
If you've ever had the desire to see John Candy intimate with a woman on film, this movie also might be for you.
For us, it was an incredibly boring movie with an outrageously misleading (yet promising) title.

My Rating: 2.5/10
BigJ's Rating: 2/10
IMDB's Rating: 3.6/10
Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 27%
Do we recommend this movie: AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! (Watch "It" instead)
