lololovesfilms most anticipated movies of winter 2018-2019
The end of the year is upon us! Snow is falling, people are decorating for Christmas and getting ready for the new year, and of course, everyone is looking forward to seeing some of the best films 2018 has to offer! From feel-good family holiday flicks to year-end Academy Awards favorites, December is one of the best months for new movies. Unfortunately, January and February are a toss-up and often contain some of the worst films to be released each year, but hey, maybe 2019 will be different!

Today, we're here to share our most anticipated movies being released this Winter! What movies are you looking forward to seeing in December 2018, January 2019, and February 2019?? Let us know in the comments!

1) "Vox Lux" (release date: December 7, 2018, limited release)
We missed "Vox Lux" at the San Diego International Film Festival and have been looking for a way to see it ever since. We love Natalie Portman, and we love movies about music, so hopefully, this will be as good as we think it'll be!
If Beale Street Could Talk 2018 movie poster Barry Jenkins

2) "If Beale Street Could Talk" (release date: December 14, 2018)
Barry Jenkins' last film "Moonlight" won several Oscars, including Best Picture. He has such a unique, intricate visual storytelling style that we just know "If Beale Street Could Talk" will be a worthy follow-up film.
Bumblebee 2018 movie poster Transformers Hailee Steinfeld John Cena

3) "Bumblebee" (release date: December 21, 2018)
Okay, look, we're just as tired of the "Transformers" series as the next person, but the second trailer for "Bumblebee" totally sold us on this movie. The Transformers actually look like the Transformers from our childhood, so we have a small, teeny tiny glimmer of hope for this one. Plus, JOHN CENAAAAAAAA!!
Mary Poppins Returns 2018 Disney movie poster Emily Blunt Lin Manuel Miranda

4) "Mary Poppins Returns" (release date: December 21, 2018)
"Mary Poppins" is getting a sequel?! WHY!? Well...what does Disney have to lose? Their live-action remakes have been making bank, their subsidiary properties such as Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar are killing it at the box office, why not now to make a sequel to one of the most beloved Disney favorites? We love Emily Blunt and Lin Manuel Miranda, and knowing that the two of them have incredible singing voices, we personally can't wait to see what they bring to the table here.
Welcome to Marwen 2018 movie poster Steve Carell Robert Zemeckis

5) "Welcome to Marwen" (release date: December 21, 2018)
Robert Zemeckis has been a pioneer of interesting, unique visuals since early in his career. "Welcome to Marwen" looks to give audiences more of the same with an emotional story about survival and recovery featuring a brilliant cast including Steve Carell, Leslie Mann, Janelle MonĂ¡e, Gwendoline Christie, and Merritt Wever.
Holmes and Watson 2018 movie poster Sherlock Holmes Will Ferrell John C. Reilly

6) "Holmes and Watson" (release date: December 25, 2018)
We love it when Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly team up for some shenanigans. This time around, they are taking on the roles of the infamous Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, and we have a hunch it will make for some big laughs!
Vice 2018 movie poster Christian Bale Steve Carell Sam Rockwell Adam McKay Dick Cheney

7) "Vice" (release date: December 25, 2018)
Christian Bale starring. Sam Rockwell, Amy Adams, Steve Carell co-starring. Adam McKay directing. Potentially scathing Dick Cheney "biopic"? Let's do this.
Destroyer 2018 movie poster Nicole Kidman

8) "Destroyer" (release date: December 25, 2018)
Nicole Kidman just got nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in "Destroyer," need we say more? Well, we will, because this film is also directed by Karyn Kusama, who gave us the very interesting dramatic horror film "The Invitation," so our interests are indeed piqued.
Stan & Ollie Laurel and Hardy 2019 movie poster Steve Coogan John C. Reilly

9) "Stan and Ollie" (release date: January 11, 2019)
We don't know much about "Stan and Ollie" except that it's about Laurel and Hardy and it stars Steve Coogan and John. C Reilly, both of whom we really like. That's good enough for us!
Glass 2019 movie poster M. Night Shyamalan Bruce Willis Samuel L. Jackson James McAvoy

10) "Glass" (release date: January 18, 2019)
We liked "Split" while we were watching it in theaters, but the final act reveal made us audibly gasp, which doesn't happen often. It was a huge surprise to literally only BigJ and me in our specific theater. As we looked around, no one knew what it meant or what was going on...BUT WE SURE AS HELL DID! We cannot wait for its follow-up, "Glass," to hopefully blow us out of the water once more.
Serenity 2019 movie poster Matthew McConaughey Anne Hathaway

11) "Serenity" (release date: January 25, 2019)
"Serenity" is another movie we don't know a lot about, but with a cast including the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jason Clarke, Diane Lane, and Djimon Hounsou, we'll be there opening weekend!
Arctic 2019 movie poster Mads Mikkelsen
12) "Arctic" (release date: February 1, 2019)
Mads Mikkelsen trekking through the frozen tundras of the Arctic. 'Nuff said.
The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part 2019 movie poster Christ Pratt Elizabeth Banks

13) "The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part" (release date: February 8, 2019)
The first "Lego Movie" was a huge hit with us, and surprisingly so. The trailers initially didn't grab us, but we wound up having our expectations shattered. We loved it! Hopefully lightning will strike twice and "The Second Part" will be just as amazing!
Cold Pursuit 2019 movie poster Liam Neeson
14) "Cold Pursuit" (release date: February 8, 2019)
Why the powers that be didn't call this movie "Mr. Plow," we'll never know, but you can bet we'll be there in the front row watching Liam Neeson take some baddies out with a snow plow! C'mon, you know it sounds like a ludicrous good time.
Alita: Battle Angel 2019 movie poster Robert Rodriguez
15) "Alita: Battle Angel" (release date: February 14, 2019)
We have a hunch this movie will flop big time at the box office, but we're still sort of kind of looking forward to Robert Rodriguez's "Alita: Battle Angel."
How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World 2019 Dreamworks movie poster

16) "How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World" (release date: February 22, 2019)
We adore the "How to Train Your Dragon" series and have been waiting with bated breath for this final installment in the trilogy for years. We will be sad to see this series go, but we know Dreamworks won't let us down with "The Hidden World."
