Movie"Thor: The Dark World"
Director: Alan Taylor
Rating: PG-13
Running Time: 1 hour, 52 minutes

While Thor (Chris Hemsworth) is busy restoring the peace between the nine realms, Jane (Natalie Portman) is continuing her scientific studies in London. She has come across a weird gravitational anomaly and porthole, which is a precursor to the merging of the nine realms. She accidentally travels through the porthole and stumbles upon the Aether, an ancient device that was created by the dark elves, a race that predates the nine realms. The dark elves wish to use this device to turn the world dark again by destroying the realms. Jane becomes host to the Aether, and in order to protect her, Thor takes her to Asgard, but the dark elves will stop at nothing to obtains the Aether.

This was a very exciting superhero movie! It definitely met the amazingness of the first movie, in our opinions. This sequel continues to drive the other movies in the Marvel universe and keeps it on a steady track. The performance of Tom Hiddleston was incredible and it added much more depth to the character of Loki. As with most Marvel movies, the special effects are stupendous. We particularly enjoy the witty banter between Loki and Thor, and all of the smart-ass remarks they make to one another are fun and add welcomed humor to an otherwise "boom boom" action movie. Another great source of humor in this movie is from Stellan Skarsgard's character, Erik, who streaks naked in from of Stonehenge, still suffering from the impact of "The Avengers" movie. It's interesting to see the two very different styles between the two directors of this movie. James Gunn does darker humor movies, where as Alan Taylor directs gritty television shows (minus "Sex and the City," of course).

We were not disappointed one bit and cannot wait for the next Avengers movie!

My Rating: 8.5/10
