"Furious 7" Leaves Others in the Dust
The highly anticipated
"Furious 7" opened this weekend to a whopping $143,623,000 domestic gross! Insane! This is by far the biggest opening weekend
in 'The Fast and the Furious' franchise history. This latest installment has already eclipsed the
total domestic gross of both 2003's
"2 Fast 2 Furious" ($127,154,901) and 2006's
"The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift" ($62,514,415).
"Home," the family comedy about a Boov alien named Oh, voiced by Jim Parsons, and his new friend Tip, voiced by Rihanna, held strong at
#2, bringing in an additional $27,400,000. Its domestic box office total is now sitting pretty at $95,621,000. Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart's buddy prison-preparedness comedy
"Get Hard" came in at #3 this weekend, followed by Disney's latest live action adaptation in
"Cinderella" at #4, and the second movie in the
"Divergent" series,
"Insurgent," rounded out the
rest of the top five.
