Lolo's Lists: The BEST Movies of 2015 So Far!

July is here, and we are at the halfway point of 2015, which is insane to say already since it feels like the year just started. Today, we want to take a second to recap our favorite theatrical releases of 2015 thus far. It was hard to narrow it down to a top 10, and while some of these selections will make it through to the end of the year, we're sure some may also fall off come Oscar time.

Here's the list! Do you agree or disagree?? What have you loved in 2015??
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) "Mad Max: Fury Road" - Heavy metal eye candy wrapped up in a chaotically high octane package, "Mad Max: Fury Road" might be our favorite movie of 2015 so far. Its use of mostly practical effects over CGI, a bizarrely outrageous and frantic feel, and a wonderful execution make this film something we think about often, and absolutely one we will own for our collection. MAKE MORE MOVIES LIKE THIS, HOLLYWOOD!!!
2) "Avengers: Age of Ultron" - Just as good as its predecessor in our eyes, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is a bit darker and a bit more inclusive as far as things going on, but it's never hard to understand the plot. Reprising the Avengers, along with some new characters, this movie is quite a cinematic spectacle.
3) "Inside Out" - Running audience members through an emotional roller coasted in a little under 1 hour and 40 minutes, "Inside Out" explores feelings and how one cannot exist without the other. Though it's a kids movie, adults will enjoy the introspection is brings, as well as how (sometimes) brutally honest and tragically accurate it can be. Fun, funny, yet emotionally moving, Disney Pixar has done it again!!
4) "Ex Machina" - What does it mean to be a person? "Ex Machina" explores artificial intelligence with a lot of deception and twists and turns, but never loses its focus and never feels boring. Deeply layered and chillingly tremendous, this is one of the best movies of the year.
5) "Kingsman: The Secret Service" - Certainly one of the top actions flicks of 2015, "Kingsman: The Secret Service" finds Colin Firth in an awesomely fun comic book-esque action killer thriller with a swanky style, some bitchin' suits, and a hard R-rating.
6) "What We Do in the Shadows" - This New Zealand comedy is one we didn't have high hopes for, but ended up loving immensely. Taking the mockumentary genre to a whole other level by using vampires as its protagonists, "What We Do in the Shadows" is crazy brilliant.
7) "Paddington" - One of the best and most unexpected films in an early year month filled with crap, "Paddington" is a delightfully refreshing, well animated, and well told story. Fun, silly and even something adults will enjoy, this was a treat. This may get bumped off by year's end, but we wanted to give it extra props while we still had the chance to do so. We know the above photo is not movie-specific, but it gives us a chance to highlight once again just how bad "The Boy Next Door" was, completely unprovoked. Don't think we forgot about you, J-Lo.
8) "Dope" - Stylish, creative, fresh and hilariously funny, "Dope" has definitely been one of the year's best comedies. With amazing performances by Shameik Moore, Tony Revolori and Kiersey Clemons, we will be thinking about this poignant movie until December, and beyond.
9) "Welcome To Me" - This is an off the wall comedy that's weirdly captivating. Kristen Wiig is at the top of her game right now, and "Welcome To Me" gives her a chance to showcase some crazy. Sort of dark and definitely uncomfortable, we enjoyed this movie quite a bit.
10) "It Follows" - Inventive, unnerving and different than most other horror movies out there, "It Follows" is an excellent and creepy film. It also has a tremendous soundtrack, which only helps its unsettling feel.
