"Ant-Man" holds on to the #1 spot, barely edges out Adam Sandler's "Pixels"
Despite three new major releases coming out this week, Marvel's
"Ant-Man" held onto the number one spot, pulling in
an estimated $24,765,000. This brings the superhero flick's domestic
total to $106,075,529. Just behind "Ant-Man" was the new Adam Sandler "comedy"
"Pixels," which debuted at the #2 spot with $24,000,000. The animated comedy
"Minions" continued to pull in good
numbers, finishing in the #3 slot and adding another $22,058,050 to it's $260+ million domestic total. The Judd Apatow directed comedy
"Trainwreck" dropped significantly to #4, but added another $17,281,950 to its
total. Finally, the Jake Gyllenhaal-led boxing drama "Southpaw" settled in at a disappointing fifth place in it's first week out at the box offices and made an estimated
$16,500,000.
