"Deadpool" slashes February records, and expectations, in enormous fashion
Happy Valentine's day, everyone! Here are your
weekend box office results!
"Deadpool" had a super duper, overly impressive opening weekend, blasting all projections and expectations by almost double, making $135 million. This is sheer insanity for an R-rated comic book movie released in February. Coming in second, to no one's surprise, was
"Kung Fu Panda 3," the only kids movie out at the moment, which made $19,650,000, bringing its 3-week domestic total to about $94 million. Newcomer R-rated comedy
"How to Be Single" came in 3rd place to the tune of $18,750,000. Another newcomer, the comedy sequel
"Zoolander 2," had a relatively successful opening weekend by coming in 4th place, making $15,650,000. Finally, rounding out the top 5 was
"The Revenant," which added another $6,900,000 to its $159.1 million domestic total gross.
