Highs and Lows: July 2016's Best and Worst Movie!

July was not a bad month, surprisingly! With no clear losers and tons of winners, we're going to have to pick a film that's not actually one of the worst of the year for our monthly round-up, but for the purposes of this post, we've got to pick a bottom-feeder. Sorry, T!

We are here to share with you our picks for the best and worst theater movie from July 2016! This helps us recap what we really liked and what we absolutely hated every month, and it will also let you know what film is worth spending your money on and what you should avoid entirely.

Here are our picks for July!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*July 2016's Best Release*"Hunt for the Wilderpeople" - Genuinely one of the best movies of 2016, "Hunt for the Wilderpeople" is touching, sweet, and hilarious with fantastic performances, a compassionate, well thought out script, and tremendous attention to detail and camerawork from director Taika Waititi. It's heartfelt without being sappy and funny without trying too hard. Please do yourself a favor and watch this movie!  Our rating: 10/10.
*July 2016's Worst Release*"The Legend of Tarzan" - Now, we have to be honest. I gave this movie 4/10, and BigJ gave it 5/10. We're shocked to see there wasn't a lower rated movie debuting in July, so "The Legend of Tarzan" is the winner by default. Very bloated with CGI and full of obvious instances of where 3D rendering would be, plus a stale performance by Alexander Skarsgard, this uninspired retread back to this character begs the question: who the hell is asking for a Tarzan movie in 2016!? There are much better choices from July this year.  Our rating: 4.5/10.
