Movie: "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"
Director: John Hughes
Year: 1986
Rating: PG-13
Running Time: 1 hours and 43 minutes
"Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
Probably one of the greatest movie quotes/lines in general ever uttered. It's basically "C'est la Vie" encapsulated by a 17-year old.

For those of you who have not seen this John Hughes classic (if any of you exist), this movie is about a day in the life of a 17-year old named Ferris Bueller (Matthew Broderick). Ferris fakes being sick so he can take the day off of school in order to enjoy the city of Chicago and all it has to offer, along with his best friend Cameron (Alan Ruck) and girlfriend Sloane (Mia Sara). He does this to the ire of his sister Jeanie (Jennifer Grey) and his high school principal Ed Rooney (Jeffery Jones).

This movie is a timeless classic and still holds up almost 30 years later. It's filled with laughs, good's just an all-around fun film! This movie has so many memorable scenes and quotes it's hard not to enjoy it. Everyone needs a day off, and sometimes you need to "play hooky" to just enjoy life and remember what's really important in the world.

My Rating: 10/10

Do we recommend the film: ABSOLUTELY YES!!!

  1. It's been years since I've seen this movie. I love towards the end when the sister is trying to beat him home.

I like Off Our Shelf idea. I've been telling myself I want to watch every single movie we have, because A)I've been bored lately, and B)there are so many we have that I've not watched. Maybe I'll do some reviews too!

    1. You should really go back and watch this movie again, it's so good! You appreciate movies more when you spread the time you watch them around.

I think movie reviews from you would be awesome and we would love to see them! It's nice to go back and re-watch movies. Do you have Netflix? I forgot. :)

    2. We used to have Netflix but dropped it last year. When I tried to restart our account earlier this year I found that you can't just get the dvds anymore without also having the streaming service. We don't need or want the streaming part of it because our internet is nowhere near good enough to do it.

    3. Oh, and I do have several movie review posts scattered throughout my blog. I used to post waaaaaaay more stuff than I do now. :(
