The N.W.A. biopic "Straight Outta Compton" finished the weekend with a sweet first place victory, easily surpassing all other films for #1 glory at the box office, bringing in $56,091,165. "Compton" has dethroned "Mission: Impossible - Rouge Nation" from its two-week stay at the top. Now dropping to #2, the fifth installment in the Tom Cruise-led spy thriller franchise pulled in another $17,000,000, bringing its domestic total to $138,136,555. Coming in at number three was another spy film in the Guy Ritchie-directed TV-to-film adaptation "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.," which opened with $13,535,000. Dropping two spots to #4 is Fox's comic book adaptation of "Fantastic Four," or "Fant4stic," which added a mere $8,000,000 to its domestic total. This is a 69% drop from its already disappointing opening weekend. So far, the the superhero flick, which as of today sits at an 8% on the aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, has only made about $42 million of its $120 million dollar budget back at the domestic box office. It seems to be struggling to even break even globally as well, but we totally know why. Lastly, closing out the top 5 is the modestly budgeted suspense drama film "The Gift," which added another $6,500,000 to its total and has earned over 400% of its budget back so far in its two week run. Take notes from Joel Edgerton, Fox.
