Weekend Box Office Results: October 9th, 2015 - October 11th, 2015

"The Martian" enjoys the view from the top, hold strong at #1 for a second straight weekend; "Pan" fails to fly

Matt Damon's birthday week was a little bit sweeter than usual this year as his hit film "The Martian" was able to stick around for one more week at the top of the box office charts, raking in an impressive $37,000,000 in its second weekend. Holding steady at #2 this weekend is the animated family comedy "Hotel Transylvania 2," which earned another $20,300,000, bringing its three week domestic total gross to $116.8 million. Who says Adam Sandler's career is over? Coming in at #3 this weekend is the re-imagining of Peter Pan's origin story "Pan," which brought in $15,530,000, only 10% of its budget. No happy thoughts for this movie this weekend, apparently. The Anne Hathaway/Robert De Niro workplace comedy "The Intern" came in at #4, bringing in another $8,660,000 to its impressive $49,574,047 domestic total gross. Finally, closing out the top 5 is the tremendous film "Sicario," which made $7,350,000, bringing its 24 day total to $26,706,016 domestically.
