"Suicide Squad" debuts strong, becomes largest August opening of all time

Hey, movie lovers! Hope you had a great weekend! Here are your weekend box office results!

To the surprise of no one, "Suicide Squad" catapulted to the top of the box office charts, becoming the highest grossing August opening of all time. It pulled in a hefty and impressive $135.1 million despite poorly received critics reviews. "Jason Bourne" dropped to a distant second place, pulling in $22,710,000 in its second weekend out. In third place, R-rated mom-edy "Bad Moms" made $14,204,000 for a 2-week total of about $51 million. "The Secret Life of Pets" is still clawing on to the top 5. It came in fourth place to the tune of $11,560,000, for a 5-week total of an impressive $319,578,780. Rounding out the top 5 this weekend was "Star Trek Beyond," which had a pretty sizable drop to $10,200,000, for a 3-week total of $127.9 million.
